Received an email about Shift Ultra, but not sure how to access it? Shift Ultra, including Workspaces and other features, are currently only available on the Beta and Alpha channels. Continue reading for step-by-step instructions on how to access.

 

1. Download the Alpha or Beta version of Shift

To access Ultra, you'll need to subscribe to either the Alpha or Beta channel. Click here to head to the channel download page and select either Alpha or Beta. The main difference between these two channels is that Alpha is newer than Beta, and may have features not yet available in Beta.

2. Hard refresh Shift

This step may not be needed. In case the special update prompt does not automatically show up for you, hard refresh Shift to kickstart the process:

• Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows)
• Cmd + Shift + R (Mac)

3. Follow the special update prompts

After hard-refreshing, you'll receive in-app prompts to continue with the update:

 

 

You may see the following caution message about your opened tabs. Click "Continue" to initialize the update:

 

 

v7 users will get an additional step before proceeding. As a v7 user, you will get the option to import your existing Workspaces to the new version. The following message will pop-up to your window when the update is available.

 

 

Click "Import" when you are ready to update. You will have the option to skip this but we recommend importing your old Workspaces and then editing them later. This will be your only chance to import your old v7 Workspaces. If you click "Skip", your old v7 Workspaces will be lost.

 

The update will begin downloading in the background:

 

 

Once the update is complete, you will see a confirmation window. You will have to restart Shift to view the update:

 

 

 

After reopening Shift, you will see the app in the new UI that's included in the Ultra update:
