Are you a 1Password user and want to be able to use this extension in Shift? Here is a summary on how to add 1Password to your setup and manage it in Shift!
1Password is a password manager that acts as a password manager, digital vault, form filler, and digital wallet. If you're looking for a way to store your passwords and are not interested in using Shift's built-in password manager, the 1Password chrome extension is a great option.
How does 1Password work in Shift?
The Shift browser supports Chrome extensions, which means the 1Password extension will function in Shift just as it would in your native Chrome browser. Credentials stored via the 1Password extension will auto-fill for the emails, applications, and log-in sites that you have added to Shift. See below for an example of signing in to Facebook in Shift with credentials stored in 1Password.
To edit previously-stored logins, simply open up the 1Password extension and edit as needed.
Whenever you manually fill in credentials to a new site or application for the first time, 1Password will prompt you to save your credentials via the "save to 1Password" prompt.
How do I add the 1Password extension to my Shift set-up?
- Click the extensions icon (located in the top right corner of your Shift view)
- Select "Add Extension"
- Search "1Password" in the Chrome extension store
- Select "Add to Shift"
- A new web tab will open prompting you to sign in to 1Password. Sign in with your 1Password account credentials.
- 1Password is now active in Shift
Since all applications in Shift are web-based, adding 1Password as an application in Shift will not offer the same functionality as the extension. 1Password should be added to Shift as an extension, not as an application
