Get ready to save time with Shift's convenient Password Manager. Before you get started, here is a list of frequently asked questions.

Where can I import my passwords from?

Shift Password Manager currently supports password imports from the following browsers: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge Legacy, and Edge Chromium. We do not support importing passwords from Safari and Firefox at this time. Shift Password Manager supports password imports from any password management system where you are able to export your passwords as a comma-separated value (CSV) file.

What happens if I forgot to set up my Emergency Kit in Shift?

If you forgot to set up your emergency kit when you first imported your password, but still have access to Shift please follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Options > Settings > Passwords > Options > View Emergency Kit
  2. From here you can download and/or print out your emergency kit containing your vault password

Your vault password is essential for restoring an existing device, or setting up and viewing your passwords on a new device. We strongly suggest that you store your emergency kit somewhere safe that you will have access to in order to prevent the permanent destruction of your vault.

Does multi-factor authentication impact password management in any way?

Multi-factor authentication and two-factor authentication do not impact the password management system in any way. Shift has no effect on third party two-factor or multi-factor authentication and does not react to bypassing it.

Does Shift have access to my passwords?

No. As soon as your passwords are imported or added manually to Shift a vault is created and protected by two layers of encryption. This vault password is stored locally on your Operating System and is not sent to our servers. The encryption method and process used in Shift ensures your password information is protected and secure.

How do I delete my vault in Shift?

To permanently delete your vault in the case that you have lost your emergency kit please refer to this article for explicit steps.

If I delete my Shift account will Shift have access to my passwords?

No. In the case that a Shift representative has deleted your account your vault will be automatically and permanently deleted.
