Minimum System Requirements

Shift is a desktop computer app currently available for Windows, Mac, and Linux users. 

In order to use Shift, we recommend having 8 GB or more of RAM on your computer. 

At this time, Shift does not support:

  • Chrome OS
  • Tablets
  • Mobile devices
  • Laptops in "tablet mode"

Here is a break down of minimum system requirements by OS:

Windows

  • Windows 7 or later

Note: features like desktop notifications are not supported in Windows 7.

  • 4GB + of RAM

8 GB + is recommended. This depends on how many accounts you use in Shift. 

  • Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that's SSE2 capable

Mac 

  • macOS 10.10 (Yosemite) or later.
  • 32-bit or 64-bit Intel processor
  • 4GB+ of RAM

8 GB + is recommended. This depends on how many accounts you use in Shift. 

Linux

  • Ubuntu 16.04, Fedora 27, Debian 9 and later.
  • Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that's SSE2 capable.
  • 4GB+ of RAM

8 GB + is recommended. This depends on how many accounts you use in Shift. 

 

Primary Emails

In order to create a Shift account, you need a primary email that is hosted on Google or Microsoft servers. 

Shift supports the following emails as primaries:

1. Gmail

2. G-suite

3. Outlook.com

Shift does not support the following emails as primaries: 

1. Office 365

2. MS Exchange accounts

3. Email hosted on premise

4. GoDaddy emails

5. Company emails hosted on company servers

 

Shift does support Office 365 accounts, but only as secondary accounts. Meaning you can use your Office 365 account in Shift, but it cannot be the primary account that you use to log into Shift with.
