Using WhatsApp in Shift

With WhatsApp, you'll get fast, simple, secure messaging and calling for free, available all over the world.


This feature is available for all Shift Advanced users.


Shift uses the web app version of WhatsApp. In Shift, chats are synced to the desktop version so you can use WhatsApp on your computer, in Shift, and your mobile phone without missing a beat.


How to Add WhatsApp to Shift

1. Click on Settings (the wrench in the bottom left-hand corner).

2. Click on 'Apps'.

3. Select 'Browse Apps' and under 'Featured Apps', you will find Whatsapp.

4. Tap on WhatsApp, add your preferred account name and preferred account color.

5. Click on Save and find WhatsApp added to the Shift toolbar.



What Features are Available in Whatsapp?

Additionally, you can easily navigate through Whatsapp with the help of keyboard shortcuts. In Shift, there are minor additions to shortcut commands.


For example, the keyboard shortcut to create a new chat within Whatsapp is 'Ctrl/Cmd + N'. Whereas in Shift, the shortcut is 'Ctrl/Cmd + Alt/Option + N'. This rule is applied to all the shortcuts.


How do I Add Multiple WhatsApp Accounts to Shift?

Do you have a secondary WhatsApp account? Maybe three or four? No problem! With Shift, you can log in to multiple accounts of the same app without having to worry about logging in and out over and over again. Use the same steps as above to add another WhatsApp account, then log in with your other account.
